The College Song
He came from the gentry, three hundred years or more,
From Rheims in France long ago, a teacher of the poor.
He surrendered wealth and took abuse, but knew he was the one
To start the Christian schools: our first Lasallian.
He saw that he could help the poor to learn to read and write.
He built the bonds and touched their hearts, his mission day and night.
The delinquents, the sad, the poor, outcast like aliens,
Yet a teacher was their priest, their friend: their first Lasallian.
With this new vocation, he sought to teach and call,
To provide God’s instruction, to touch hearts of them all.
And he transformed lives beyond his dreams; today we stand as one.
The children of his life’s work: we are Lasallian.
Chorus: We are one, but we are many,
And all round the globe we can be found.
We share a dream, La Salle’s tradition.
I am, you are, we are Lasallian.
Jean Baptiste De La Salle, ‘Signum fidei’,
Right here in our Swan Valley, his spirit’s among the trees.
From all of Perth’s far corners, to school each day we come.
We give thanks for the life and love of this Lasallian.
Our minds, our faith, our teachers, La Salle has touched all hearts.
Our mission is to be our best, with God close as we part.
Our hearts afire we’ll leave our school indebted to this man.
We’ll never forget you: you are our Lasallian.
Chorus: We are one, but we are many,
And all round the globe we can be found.
We share a dream, La Salle’s tradition.
I am, you are, we are Lasallian.
Chorus: We are one, but we are many,
And all round the globe we can be found.
We share a dream, La Salle’s tradition.
I am, you are, we are Lasallian.
