Over the Term 3 school holidays, a group of Year 10 and 11 students, along with staff travelled to Broome and the remote First Nations community of Balgo as part of a cultural immersion experience.
During the Broome visit students spent time at St Mary’s College Broome engaging in classroom and school life and also had the opportunity to reconnect with former La Salle College teacher, Mrs Amy Boughton.
In Balgo our students visited the local Catholic school and enjoyed running fun and engaging activities for the whole school and during their free time swam and spent evenings playing basketball at the local Youth Centre.
Guided by local Aboriginal Elders, students explored ancient rock art sites and took part in a special ceremony at Lake Gregory, learning about culture, connection to Country, and the deep traditions of the land. An unforgettable learning and life experience for our staff and students.
Thank you to Deacon Peters and Ms Van Wyk for taking our students on this incredible journey.
