Commemorating Remembrance Day 2020

13 November 2020

Students, staff and members of the wider La Salle community came together during our assembly on Wednesday 11 November to commemorate Remembrance Day 2020.

Led admirably by our Year 11 History ATAR students, our community was able to reflect upon the sacrifices made by so many over time for the freedoms and opportunities that we have today.

As part of the commemoration, Year 7 students from Ms Piggott’s and Mr McKay’s Humanities and Social Science (HaSS) classes, as well as students from our Aboriginal Education Centre, created more than 100 crosses that were planted as a Walk of Remembrance to remind us of these sacrifices.

Students chose to research a family member or any other brave Australian who had served our nation in battle, and honoured them by noting their service details on the commemorative cross they had created.
A big thank you to Ms Piggott, Mr McKay and Ms Oakley for their help, as well as Mr Velardo and Mr Vitalich for making the crosses.

It was a truly poignant and memorable commemoration of Remembrance Day for the La Salle community.
