Mr Paul Litherland is a renowned cyber awareness speaker and owner of Surf Online Safe. As part of Cyber Awareness Week, Mr Litherland spoke with our Year 7, Year 9 and Year 11 students about the current dangers they could be facing when using online platforms. He emphasised that young people need to be mindful of what they are posting and sharing about themselves and should give thought to exposing themselves to danger, embarrassment and bullying.
Tips for being safe online:
- Students are encouraged to regularly check settings in apps to see what people know or can find out about them
- Students should never accept any friend requests on any platform unless they know the person in real life
- Parents and teenagers should have regular conversations so that all are informed as to what and who they are engaging with online
Mr Litherland is a regular visitor to the College and continues to do important work in keeping young people safe from online issues. He will be returning in 2025 to educate our students about how to engage online safely.
