On Wednesday 4 June, the Senior Learning Centre Lecture Theatre was brimming with eager Year 10 students as part of our Humanities and Social Sciences (HaSS) Exam Preparation Seminar.
All Year 10 students were invited to attend the 90-minute seminar, featuring the expertise and wisdom of Mrs Rowe, Mrs Marriette and Mr Motherway who presented an engaging and informative university style lecture. This is the first time the HaSS Exam Preparation Seminars have been offered and provided students with the chance to review content from earlier in the term, ask specific questions to specialist teachers and have some independence in planning their study schedule as the seminar was not compulsory for them to attend.
Those students that did attend, were engaged in taking notes and discussions covering the key learning points from the Economics and Business and Civics and Citizenship content topics. Students were also given practice questions to work through to assist their knowledge and understanding of the various topics and content.
These sessions provided our students with extra support from expert teaching staff, helping students engage in the curriculum and have more confidence to sit and thrive in their exams. Students who attended showed courage to volunteer their time to attend the event and flexibility as classes and teachers collaborated throughout the session.
We look forward to running more of these seminar study sessions in the future.
