On Thursday 2 September our Year 9 students hosted their fathers and other significant men in their lives at our annual Father’s Day liturgy and breakfast. In the liturgy today we thanked God for the blessing that our fathers and other men are in our lives. We also took time to pray that God would continue to bless all fathers and help them to flourish in their vocation to parenthood and in every area of their lives. Our prayers and reflections were based around the qualities of security, union and self-sacrifice that fathers show. Finally, this was an opportunity to recognise how a healthy masculine spirit reveals to us one important aspect of God’s nature, as St Pope John Paul the Second reminded us

“In revealing and in reliving on earth the very fatherhood of God, a man is called upon to ensure the harmonious and united development of all the members of the family.”
