Humanities and Social Sciences

29 March 2022

Our Humanities and Social Sciences (HaSS) team do an amazing job delivering dynamic and engaging real world content to all our students. Here are some highlights of their learning across year groups in Term 1, 2022.

  • Mock Trials – Congratulations to our La Salle Lawsuits team who won their first round of Mock Trials against Hale on 22 March at the Supreme Court. A mock trial is a simulated court case in which teams contest a fictitious Western Australian (WA) legal matter presented in the WA court system. The mock trial competition, hosted by the Law Society of WA, is a dynamic and hands-on way for students to get involved with WA’s laws and courts.
  • Year 8 students hosted an interactive game show in the College auditorium using content from the Civics and Citizenship course
  • Yr 11 Business Management and Enterprise Course students created and led a game to develop their teamwork skills
  • Year 7 students completed skill-based fieldwork exploring the features of the College that make it a liveable area. Students completed a survey and field sketch of one area in the school which has liveable features.

Creative teaching and learning ensures that our students develop skills of collaboration, communication and critical thinking whilst gaining a holistic understanding on global matters that affect us all.
