On Friday 10 May our College held its Annual Make a Difference (MAD) Day.
The mission of MAD Day is to focus on the least, last and lost, highlighting that we live in a privileged society. We recognise that others do not just need financial assistance, we can also improve the lives of others through our actions. Therefore, the service component to the activities is a major objective of the day.
Students gave their assistance in running stalls to fundraise for the various charities that La Salle College supports throughout the year. This year’s MAD Day was in support of the Lasallian Foundation and our Brother Lasallian Schools. It is a reminder that we all have the power to make a difference to others’ lives and help the communities that need it the most.
‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me,’ Matthew 25:40.
The whole College started the morning in the Patricia Rodigues Centre (gym) for a Mass. The service reflected on the life of our patron St John Baptist de La Salle and the way he lived a life in service to Christ, caring for those who had much less. After Mass a special livestream to St. Joseph’s High School Gujranwala. Our student Christian Ministry Captains had the chance to ask the students in Pakistan some questions on behalf of the College. It was an amazing display of connection and our students were engaged in learning about what school looks like for the students at St. Joseph’s High School.
The whole College then spent the day running and participating in a variety of different stalls to raise money for our selected charities. There was lots of fun to be with lots of exciting and creative stalls from, facepainting, an ice-cream bar, raffles, slime a teacher and much, much more. It was wonderful to see students participating and donating for a greater cause.
The day ended with the annual talent competition. With a variety of different performances it was a great show – full of lots of talent! Congratulations to the Year 12 girls dance who took out the competition and Sunny who won the people’s choice. There was an incredible atmosphere as the College community cheered on every act.
It was a wonderful day of fun, and it was great to see the generosity of our community.
