The National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) takes place Australia-wide in Term 1. All College students in Years 7 and 9 are expected to participate. Students requiring disability adjustments will be provided with support in line with what they normally receive.
The Program assesses literacy and numeracy skills that are viewed as essential for every child to advance through their school life and use in in their after-school career. NAPLAN consists of online testing in reading, writing, language conventions and numeracy.
Please encourage your child to participate fully in NAPLAN and do their best. For Year 9 students, it is important that NAPLAN testing be completed for potential future benefit. The Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) system for graduation requires that all students achieve a required level of literacy and numeracy. This can be gained by pre-qualifying through NAPLAN results in Year 9 (or alternatively if required, by sitting the Online Literacy and Numeracy Test in Year 10, 11, and/or 12).
The list below outlines when each test will take place at the College. Year 7 tests will take place in Periods 3 and 4, and Year 9 tests will occur in Periods 1 and 2 (excepting the catchup tests). Can you please remind your child to bring their fully charged device, headphones, and a pen/pencil to each test?
