Over four incredible shows, the audience was swept away by the heart, grit, and unforgettable music of Lionel Bart’s Oliver! – an electrifying musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless tale.Â
Audiences were transported to the smoky streets of Victorian London where young orphan Oliver Twist dares to dream of a better life. From grim workhouses to the chaotic underworld of pickpockets and thieves, Oliver’s journey is packed with danger, drama, and a desperate search for love, belonging, and identity.
Oliver! has been an unforgettable journey for both staff and students. It’s a mammoth show with complex music, intricate vocal arrangements, countless dance numbers, and a whirlwind of costumes. But through it all, our students have shone, and not just those in the spotlight. Every single child involved in this production is a star. They’ve made huge commitments, sacrificed time, supported one another, and taken on the challenge of learning new skills.
We are so proud of every single one of them and were amazed by what they’ve achieved.
None of this would be possible without our phenomenal staff team, creative, generous, and endlessly dedicated. Thanks to Musical Director Samantha Ashman, Vocal Director Heidi Lake, Choreographer Virginia Bochrinis, Production Assistant Olivia van Wyk, Costume Designer Ella Van Raak and Aaron Massang Technical Coordination and Lighting, for your talent and amazing work.
Thank you to every parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, alumni, and Lasallian staff member who has volunteered their time and talent.
With close to 1000 audience members over four shows, Oliver! was a great success that left us wanting more. Relive the excitement and take a look at the amazing costumes and set design in the shots below from the dress rehearsal.
