Principal’s Message

25 October 2022

Welcome back to all our families for the final term of our 2022 school year. I hope everyone enjoyed some refreshing family time and students are looking forward to being the best they can be in the next few months.

Year 12 Graduation

The Year 12 Graduation Liturgy and Ceremony held on Tuesday 18 October 2022 was a very important and special event for our College community, as we acknowledged the wonderful Class of 2022.  For our Year 12 students the daily routine that has been central to their lives in recent years has now ended and a new chapter awaits.  As I farewelled the Class of 2022, I challenged them to take all that they are to be superheroes to others beyond our community. I hope that they, along with all within our community will nurture our College values of Faith, Excellence and Service to bring the light and love of Christ to all they meet along their life journey.

I would like to acknowledge all of the staff and our P & F volunteers that spent countless hours ensuring that our Year 12 Graduation Liturgy and Ceremony was a wonderful celebration for the Class of 2022. My gratitude is also extended to the many parents and family members who attended the celebration and witnessed the passing of this important phase in their child’s life.

As a community we certainly wish the Class of 2022 much success in their upcoming exams and in the careers that await them. However, this will not be the measure by which the College ultimately determines whether it has provided good service to these graduates. This will be gauged by the extent to which each of these young people chooses to lead a life of service and become an agent for positive change in their society. We wish each of our graduates well in pursuit of these characteristics and Christ’s love and protection on the journey ahead.

Student Leadership 2023

This week we introduced our community to the 2023 College Leaders. We look forward with excitement to the new year as they work together to lead our student body. We have asked the 2023 student leaders to exemplify our Catholic leadership model.

A leader at La Salle College is a person of Action, Influence and Integrity who leads with courage and compassion towards a harmonious community where all students are encouraged, nurtured and seek excellence.

As a leader like Jesus and St John Baptist de la Salle one must model:

  • Service and loyalty to the college community and its mission
  • Courage, integrity and adaptability
  • Collaborative authentic relationships marked by compassion and hope
  • Search for truth, justice and mercy
  • Vision with clear consideration of the impact on others and a sense of sacred
  • Commitment to action and excellence through service, persistence and respect.

This model provides direction for a way of living that allows each member of the community to work together in a culture of service to help others to be the very best they can be.

For every member of our community my leadership advice – act with a mindset of service. It is through action that leaders are made. It is through your actions that you demonstrate to others that you have the integrity and compassion to keep all members of the community together and on their search for excellence. Your actions give others permission to follow suit. Your actions create a culture of service. People are not born as leaders. Leadership develops one act of service at a time.

Congratulations to our newly appointed 2023 College Leaders who have taken on board our culture of service and we acknowledge and thank our 2022 Leaders who have been humble and successful servant leaders this year. Our Year 12 leaders have lived out the servant leadership across the year.
