Principal’s Message

14 March 2023

Dear Family and Friends,

How did we get to Week 7 of Term 1 already?  It does not seem all that long ago that we commenced the academic year.  I know many of the parents, students and staff I have spoken to have commented about how busy the start to the year has been. It is so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life. We have work, school, family commitments, and endless to-do lists that can feel overwhelming. It’s easy to let these things take over and to forget about what’s most important in life.

Pope Francis’ Lenten Message reminds us to stop and reflect on what is most important in life. How many distractions and trifles distract us from the things that really count! How often do we get caught up in our own wants and needs, lose sight of the heart of the matter, and fail to embrace the true meaning of our lives in this world!” Pope Francis, 2023

As we journey through the season of Lent, it is important to reflect on our priorities and how we can live out the message of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. Lent is a time to pause and reflect on what truly matters in life, and to make changes that bring us closer to God and those around us.

During Lent, let’s rediscover the joy of caring for others. It’s easy to get caught up in our own busy schedules and forget to reach out to those in need. Whether it’s volunteering at a local charity, donating to Project Compassion or simply checking in on a friend or family member, there are many ways to show compassion and love to those around us.

Putting God at the centre of our lives is another important aspect of Lent. In a world that often values material possessions and success above all else, it can be easy to lose sight of what truly matters. By making time for prayer and reflection, we can deepen our relationship with God and become more grounded in our faith.

Finally, it is important to remember that life is about relationships. Our connections with others are what bring meaning and purpose to our lives, and it is through these relationships that we can experience God’s love and grace. Whether it’s spending quality time with family and friends or reaching out to someone who may be feeling isolated or alone, let’s make a conscious effort to prioritise our relationships during this Lenten season.

During this Lent, let’s put God at the centre of our lives, and choose things that truly matter. We shouldn’t get caught up in our busy schedules. Life is about relationships, and we can always renew them thanks to God and the people He puts in our lives.

God Bless!
