Dear Families and Friends,
Advent and the Jubilee Year: Pilgrims of Hope
Sunday, 1 December 2024, marked the commencement of Advent and the joyful beginning of the Jubilee Year proclaimed by Pope Francis. This extraordinary year, themed “Pilgrims of Hope,” invites the entire Church into a sacred time of grace, renewal, and deepened faith.
Advent is, itself, a season of hope—a time when we await the coming of Christ with expectant hearts. As we light the Candle of Hope on our Advent wreath, we are reminded of God’s unwavering promises, his boundless mercy, and his faithful presence in our lives.
Pope Francis’ vision for the Jubilee Year beautifully echoes this Advent hope, calling us to embody “Pilgrims of Hope” in a world yearning for healing, reconciliation, and joy. Jubilee Years hold a cherished place in the Church’s tradition. They are moments of forgiveness, renewal, and profound encounters with God’s mercy—a time to recommit ourselves to Him and to one another.
This Jubilee Year challenges us to approach life with hearts open to God’s transformative grace. It is an invitation to reflect on where we need his mercy, how we can deepen our relationship with him, and how we can bring hope to those around us. Both Advent and the Jubilee intertwine, urging us to prepare for the Lord’s coming—not only at Christmas but in the quiet moments of everyday life, where He waits to meet us with love.
As Advent calls us to “prepare the way of the Lord,” the Jubilee encourages us to embark on a spiritual pilgrimage, seeking God’s presence in prayer, the sacraments, and acts of service. Together, they remind us of the hope that anchors our faith: God’s love is constant, and his call is ever unchanging.
I invite every member of our community to accept Pope Francis’ call to be carriers of hope, shining Christ’s light in a world frequently overshadowed by fear and despair. May this sacred year serve as a deep source of grace for all of us and our community. As we walk together as “Pilgrims of Hope,” let us ready our hearts in joyful expectation of God’s promises coming to fruition.

A Christmas Blessing
As we enter this season of Advent and prepare for the birth of our Saviour, may the light of Christ fill each of us—students, families, and staff—with peace, hope, and joy.
As the school year draws to a close, I bid a heartfelt farewell to those who will be leaving our community. Your presence and contributions have made a lasting impact, and you will be missed. We thank you for all you have shared with us and pray that God’s blessings continue to guide and strengthen you on your journey ahead.
May this Christmas season bring our students, families, and staff abundant blessings. May the year to come be filled with grace, renewal, and the assurance of God’s unchanging love. Thank you for being part of our Lasallian family. As we continue our journey as “Pilgrims of Hope,” may we always reflect Christ’s light, sharing His love and peace with all those we encounter.
Wishing you all a safe, joyful, and holy Christmas, filled with the grace and peace of Christ’s presence.
