Dear parents and carers,
Strong community connections enrich student learning and support personal growth. By partnering with families, local organisations and industry, we open doors to meaningful opportunities beyond the classroom.
On 27 and 29 May, we welcomed over 200 Year 4 students from local Catholic primary schools. Our Year 9 students demonstrated outstanding leadership and care as they guided the younger students through engaging activities in science, art and home economics. These visits gave the Year 4s a glimpse of high school life and strengthened the sense of welcome and community that is so central to our College.
As an Onsite school, we also provide students with hands-on experiences across a range of industries—from media and business to plumbing and mining. These real-world opportunities help students explore career pathways, build confidence, and connect classroom learning with life beyond school. We are incredibly grateful to the local businesses who continue to support this important work.
MAD Day was a vibrant celebration of service, community, and talent. The day began with a Mass led by Fr Rodrigo and a special blessing for Executive Director of Catholic Education WA, Mr Wayne Bull, as he approaches retirement. The Pastoral Care Group staff and our annual “La Salle’s Got Talent,” raised an estimated $15,000. The day honours the legacy of St John Baptist de La Salle, inspiring students to recognise their ability to serve others and effect meaningful change.
The funds raised on MAD Day will support the construction of a water filtration unit at St Joseph’s School in Gujranwala, Pakistan. Gujranwala, a city of around two million in the Punjab province, faces serious water contamination issues, with underground sources often tainted by heavy metals and wastewater. By funding water filters, the College is helping to provide families with safe drinking water, reducing disease and supporting children to stay healthy, attend school, and thrive. It’s a powerful example of how we can make a significant difference to those within our wider Lasallian Community.
This week, we are excited to host our Year 11 2024 Course Selection Expo. It will be a valuable opportunity for Year 10 students and families to explore subject options, talk with university and training representatives, and begin shaping future pathways. Individual course advising meetings will follow in Term 3 to support informed decision-making.
Parents and carers play a vital role in the life of our College. Whether it’s attending events, supporting learning at home, volunteering time, or simply encouraging your child each day—your involvement makes a difference. As a parent or carer, you are a valued member of our Parents and Friends group. A great way to get involved is by joining us for our Musical Bingo Night on Friday 1 August 2025—a fun evening and our major fundraiser supporting student learning. Tickets are available now, so gather a group and come along!
God bless!
