As we journey through 2025 with a focus on our College value of service, I find myself reflecting on the many quiet, powerful ways this value is lived out in our community every day.
In Matthew 25:35–40, we are reminded of the profound impact of simple acts of kindness:
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me… Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”
This scripture speaks directly to the heart of service—not grand gestures, but everyday actions that uplift others.
At La Salle College, service is woven into the fabric of our community. It’s in the unseen dedication of our staff and teachers who support students with care and commitment. A simple thank-you email or a kind word from a parent or caregiver can be a powerful affirmation, reminding our educators that their work matters deeply.
Service also shines through the love and perseverance of parents and caregivers. Supporting young people through challenges, even when it feels unrewarding, is a profound act of service. Sometimes, it’s the smallest gestures—a smile, an empathetic nod, or letting someone go ahead in the carpark, that can transform someone’s day.
P&F Bingo Night Fundraiser
On Friday, 1 August, our Parents & Friends Committee hosted the annual Bingo Night fundraiser, a joyful example of service in action. The event raised funds to enhance student experiences, with recent donations already bringing fun and connection through new table tennis equipment.
A heartfelt thank you to the incredible team who set up the gym, gathered donations from local businesses, ran the refreshment and raffle tables, and gave generously of their time and energy. Your service is a gift to our students and a testament to the strength of our community.
Boarding House Update: Building for the Future
Exciting progress is underway with the new Boarding House construction. Metrocon has begun earthworks, preparing the site for a strong foundation. This development marks a significant step forward for our College and the future of boarding at La Salle.
As Term 3 unfolds, I encourage everyone in our community to look for opportunities to serve—whether through formal roles or quiet moments of kindness. Together, we build a culture where service is not just a value, but a way of life.
God Bless,
Rox Davies
