Relay For Life is a community fundraising event that brings people together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and raise money to support the Cancer Council’s work in research, prevention, and support services.
Held at Arena Joond1alup on Saturday 25th October, the event runs for 24 hours to symbolise that cancer never sleeps.Â
This year, La Salle College was represented by 103 year 11 students across teams of 10 – 12 students, to take turns walking or running around a track. Some teams completed half marathons, full marathons, and many hundreds of laps while others enjoyed the stalls, food trucks, silent discos, and music on offer throughout the event.
The highlight was the candle ceremony held on the Saturday evening, where participants stopped to remember those taken from us and to remember our reasons for taking part in such an amazing event.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students who raised over $11,000, with two students raising around $4,000 just between them! An amazing effort, thank you to our Lasallian family and friends for your support and generosity.Â
