The theme of National Science Week 2024 was ‘Species Survival – More Than Just Sustainability.’ The decision reflected a growing need to tackle various challenges faced by different organisms on our planet and goes beyond the concept of sustainability so commonly discussed.
The theme aimed to highlight the importance of science and innovation in ensuring the survival and thriving of different species in an ever-changing world.
Throughout the week, students aimed to identify endangered species through mind wellness activities such as colouring in and creating butterfly feeders and bug/butterfly hotels for their gardens. There was also a lunch time treat of liquid nitrogen ice-cream!
Thank you to our amazing Science Department for showing us the wonderous world of science.
