La Salle College Middle Swan has a strong history of sporting excellence within our community. On Wednesday 31 October we held our annual Sports Awards Breakfast to acknowledge students in our College Sporting Teams and Squads for their service, achievements, and spirit in 2024.
This year was another highly successful year for La Salle College within our Sub-Association of NEAS, with close to 80% of our teams placing in the top three on their respective ladders, as well as multiple Grand Finalists and overall, NEAS Champion Teams. We are pleased to announce, that for the sixth year running La Salle College has won the overall NEAS Shield. This is an outstanding effort from all students and coaches involved.
The College would also like to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of Ms Brooke McGinley and Ms Alex Robinson who received our Staff Coaches Awards. These staff led several teams this year including:
- Junior Girls Football – who made it to the State Semi Finals
- 2 x Junior Basketball teams
- 2 x Junior Netball teams
- Yr7 ACC Football Team
- Multiple ACC and SSWA Carnival Events
The College would also like to acknowledge our Sports Community Person of the Year Mr Jason Tyrrell who supported four of our football teams, officiating over 20 Home / Away football games in all sorts of weather, as well as receiving multiple accolades from the West Australian Football Commission for his efforts within community sport. Congratulations to these staff and thank you to all the coaches and staff who supported our Sporting Program this year.
Finally, as a College, we see sport as being far more than running, throwing, swimming, jumping, kicking, spiking, shooting, or defending. We view sport as an avenue that brings our community together, creating life-long memories, driving by the passion of our staff, and the exciting talents of our students.
Congratulations once again to all our award recipients and we look forward to another successful Sporting Program in 2025.
