Term 2 Recognitions & Reflections

25 June 2025

On Wednesday the 25 June our whole-school community gathered for assembly to recognise and reflect on everything our community has achieved in Term 2. There was plenty of achievements and awards to celebrate as well as a special farewell to our College Principal Ms Giovanna Fiume.

Farewell to Ms Giovanna Fiume

Led by our College Captains Hudson, Xeline, Freya and Matthew, the student body thanked Ms Fiume for her service to La Salle College with heart, vision, and unwavering dedication.

Reflecting on her time as Principal of La Salle, the Captains thanked Ms Fiume for leaving us a stronger, more connected, faith-driven College, where students don’t just learn—they lead, serve, and live the Lasallian spirit. On behalf of students, and staff, the student council Ms Fiume was presented with her own framed Class of 2025 Leavers Jacket, a small gift to express the true gratitude we have for all she has done for La Salle College since 2019.

Thank you to Ms Fiume for her unwavering passion, compassionate leadership, and undoubted belief in our students. We wish her all the best as she starts her journey as Principal of Salvado Catholic College.

Congratulations to all of the students who were presented awards for their incredible efforts. The assembly also saw the introduction of the Ben Reilly Vision for Learning staff commendation.

This award is named in honour of former staff member Ben Reilly who was a true Lasallian educator who always put his students first. He was greatly respected and loved by our community due to his empathetic nature, warm sense of humour and passionate approach to education. He was the epitome of our principles of connection, engagement, flexibility and particularly courage, as he demonstrated throughout his battle with MND. The award acknowledges current staff who carry on his legacy. The inaugural award was presented to Ms Shellie Rodriguez for her hard work on the College Production of Oliver, which created connection in our community.
