On Monday 10 February the whole College gathered for our Opening Welcome Mass and Academic Assembly.

In a special tradition, our Year 12 students formed a guard of honour inside the gymnasium, to officially welcome our Year 7 students into the Lasallian community. It was certainly a moment to be cherished by all.

As part of her opening address to the College, Principal Ms Giovanna Fiume highlighted that this year is a Jubilee Year in the Catholic Church, which occurs every 25 years. A year to renew and reset our lives as individuals and as a community.

The theme for this Jubilee, set by the Holy Father Pope Francis for the entire Catholic Church, is “Pilgrims of Hope”. 

Our Academic High Achievers from the Class of 2024 joined us at Assembly to be acknowledged and celebrated for their incredible efforts. Ms Fiume presented them with a gift and a certificate of recognition on behalf of the College, for their outstanding academic achievements. It was inspiring to hear their achievements and plans for the next few years. 

We wish them well with what comes next. It was a privilege to be united as a school community to celebrate their success – and draw inspiration and hope from them as we embark on the exciting learning journey of a new school year at La Salle College.
