Our Year 7 Rising Stars play a key role in sharing thoughts and ideas about the College, as well as planning and running events and initiatives throughout the year. The program is student-led and fosters connection, while empowering students to grow in leadership and contribute to the school community in innovative, fun and engaging ways.
Last term the Year 7 Rising Stars ran “Walking Wednesdays” to develop connection and physical activity levels for their peers. This saw participants gain a House token for each lap of the oval they completed. The House group with the most tokens shared in a morning tea to celebrate together. Well done to Brigid House for collecting the most tokens!
Planning for Term 3 is well underway with the group advertising “Wow Wednesdays” which encourages all Year 7 students to meet in the gym at lunch time to participate in mini-volleyball games, dodge ball and soccer. We have been seeing some outstanding numbers at these events and hope to continue to support engagement and connection within the Year 7 cohort for the remainder of the year.
The Year 7 Rising Stars leadership group are always looking for new members to contribute ideas and develop leaderships skills. They meet on a Tuesday at lunch time for a planning and reflection meeting and Wednesdays to run activities. If you are interested, please come along and check it out – everyone is welcome!
