Connecting Online Wisely

14 February 2023

We recognise that many of our students have been keeping in touch with their friends and peers online across a variety of social media platforms over the recent holidays, and probably do so every day as a modern means of connection. We would hope that these interactions have been positive and help to grow in them an understanding of safe online etiquette and behaviour, however, it has come to our attention that some interactions may not have been positive at times with issues being raised with our Leaders of Wellbeing around online interactions occurring between students.

I would encourage all students and families to be aware of the following statement that appears in our Student Code of Conduct:

  • Refraining from using any social media to shame, criticize or defame others, including students, staff or the College.

We encourage our students to use their digital devices in moderation, and if accessing social media platforms, to do so in a responsible and safe manner. Please see these online resources available to assist you with supporting your young person to do so at ESafety for Kids. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to make contact with your relevant Leader of Wellbeing.
