Cooking adventures with Good Shepherd

20 July 2021

During Term 2, La Salle College welcomed 16 education support students (across Years 3-6) from Good Shepherd Primary School into their Home Economics Department for a day of cooking adventures.

The students are all active members of their school Cooking Club however only have access to a small kitchen.

The excursion provided a memorable learning experience with Year 11 students assisting the younger students in a range of hands-on kitchen and cooking activities to investigate, explore and tap into their inquisitive minds.

The students were brimming with enthusiasm about cooking triple chocolate muffins and approached the task with great excitement.

After their cooking adventure, students had a chance to explore La Salle College’s Education Support Centre and walk around the school grounds – gaining a small insight into high school life.

Good Shepherd Education Support Coordinator Ms Lisa Manifold said great excitement is an understatement – it was an amazing experience that was talked about all the way back to school, at school and in their homes that evening.

“The expert tuition of Ms Ruth Payne assisted by year 11 students created an experience we could never replicate with our school resources – collaboration of resources is the key to extending learning and we will work on making this a regular part of our program”, Ms Manifold said.
