Employment pathways experience

21 June 2021

The Year 10 Certificate I Employment Pathways Course aims to prepare our students for the workplace. In Week 8, students undertook four days work experience with various local workplaces. This provided them with an opportunity to put into practise the theory and work skills they have learnt this semester.

Before commencing their work experience students participated in an induction and infection control training to meet requirements for COVID-19 protocols. They also completed the WA SMARTMOVES Certificates. This training prepared our students for what to expect in the workplace and what would be expected of them.

Mrs Dealy met with all workplace staff and supervisors in the lead up and visited all students during their workplace experience. The employment pathway experience for our students was a resounding success with plenty of positive feedback received from everyone involved.

In particular the workplace staff and supervisors were impressed with the work ethic and willingness of our students to learn.

Every student showed initiative and worked hard. In fact, some supervisors were so pleased with the students’ efforts and abilities, that four of them were offered casual employment positions. What is even more outstanding, is that three of these businesses did not have vacancies and created the positions for these students.

We are very proud of the way our students represented La Salle College in the community.
