Film and TV Excursion

21 March 2023

On Monday 20 March, Year 10 and 11 Media students attended North Metro TAFE school of Film and Television.

Students participated in filming a Television Quiz Show where they had the opportunity to learn production techniques for the Control Room and the Studio Floor.

The experience involved operating the cameras and equipment, with students also undertaking different roles in the Control Room as director, assistant director, audio tech, tapes and vision mixer.

On the Studio Floor students took on the roles of floor manager, teleprompt controller, camera persons, presenter and team contestants on screen.

Lecturer Paul Wood said he was impressed by our student’s ability to follow instruction and execute timely and accurate actions. They did an impressive job at following through the process of filming seamlessly.

The footage of the Television Quiz Show will be on display at our annual College Art & Design Exhibition in Term 4. Here’s what our students had to say about the film and television excursion:

“A really good experience that opened my eyes to the possibilities for careers and pathways in media!” – Idella Rapps
