On Wednesday 19 May 2025, a Traditional Smoking Ceremony was held on the land in which our new residential boarding facility is being built.
The on-campus location is nestled around the beautiful bushlands near Blackadder Creek in Middle Swan and will be central in creating a supportive and culturally safe environment for our boarders to thrive away from home.
The College worked closely with Ballaruk Cultural Healers who performed the powerful ritual for cleansing, healing and fostering spiritual connection to the land.
Around 30 staff, boarding students and student leaders participated in the ritual which also promotes wellbeing for individuals and community.
Construction for La Salle’s new boarding facility is scheduled to commence in July 2025 and supports the College’s proud tradition of providing Catholic education for First Nations youth from rural and remote Western Australian communities.
