ONSITE & VET PROGRAM
LEARN BY DOING
There is a range of nationally accredited TAFE qualifications that are available for Years 11 and 12 students. These qualifications will enable students to gain necessary skills and knowledge required to enter pathways and professions.
At La Salle College we are a part of the Onsite program that provides a variety of opportunities for students to engage in personalised programs designed to add clarity to potential career pathways. This program can assist with opening doors to future careers is driving students and enhancing their education.
Click below to view the detailed guidelines.
Onsite
Onsite is an external party that works with eight other private and independent schools to provide students with an opportunity to undertake industry-based workplace learning.
Onsite ā Workplace Learning (ADWPL) *
Workplace Learning is an endorsed program that provides an opportunity for a student to demonstrate and develop the core skills for work, referred to as generic, transferable or employability skills. Students learn to apply and adapt these skills that are necessary to understand and carry out different types of work.
Developing workplace skills aids an individual to gain employment, and in the longer term, to progress within the organisation or industry area in which they are employed, and to contribute successfully to the organisationās objectives and to the wider community.
The program consists of two placements per year where students attend their chosen workplace one day a week for approximately 10 weeks.
VET Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS)
Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS) is a program delivered to school students as part of your Western Australian Certificate of Education.
North and South Metro TAFE offer a wide variety of courses (Profile) to students who are still attending school. TAFE specifically chooses courses that provide clear career pathways after high school. They will give students practical skills and an understanding of what to expect from the workplace and, once completed, may provide credits towards other nationally recognised qualifications, or lead to employment.
- Profile courses are fully funded by the government.
- Students enrolled in a VET Delivered to Secondary Students course attend one of the Metropolitan TAFE campus one or two days per week.
- Students need to apply online for these 1- and 2-year courses in July and August in Term 3.
- Successful students will be offered a place early in Term 4.
- Each course is different in its structure, but students will be off campus for at least one day a week.
- Applications usually open in June/July and Close late August

MURDOCH FLEXI-TRACK
FlexiTrack High by Murdoch University
FlexiTrack High is an enabling course run by Murdoch University and facilitated by staff at the College as a subject in Year 12. As Flexi Track is selected as a subject in Year 12, it will be timetabled as one period per day on your childās timetable. It is expected that students will dedicate at least one hour per day outside of school time to maintain their studies in this program. Students require an A or a B grade in English General in Year 11 to gain entry into this course. This is an academic requirement set by Murdoch University, not by La Salle College.
The structure of the course is four online modules, with a variety of assessments and assignments, forums, and online contributions. Students will have a class teacher from La Salle College and will also be allocated a tutor from Murdoch University. Successful completion of the course will give students automatic entry into courses with a 70 ATAR at Murdoch University.
