Supporting our College community

Families, friendship and community spirit...
It is wonderful to see our Parents and Friends Association (P&F) operational in 2023 and already having a positive impact in our school community.
With planning already underway for many events and activities, there are still a few more volunteers urgently required to help bring this work to life. To learn more about the sub-committee lead roles and focus areas please read the information detailed below or email the P&F President Ms Carla Turner at P&F@lasalle.wa.edu.au.

- Provide leadership, support and guidance for all members of the Committee
- Ensure all members are advised of meeting dates in advance
- Ensure all meeting agendas have been prepared and venue and time of the meeting have been advise
- Preside/Chair at all General Meetings
- Ensure a quorum is present
- Ensure all members are provided a copy of the previous meeting minutes
- Exercise supervision of the functions of other office bearers
- Monitor tasks undertaken by the P&F Group
- Encourage parents and others to participate in the activities of the committee and the school as a whole
- Communicate to Committee members when the school requires volunteers throughout the year and compile lists of volunteers accordingly. Send reminders and follow up after the event; and
- Prepare an Annual Report that is presented at the Annual Community Meeting.
- The Deputy Chair supports the Chair in the leadership of the P&F Committee and represents the Chair if they are unavailable.
- Record concise and unbiased minutes of meetings
- Prepare and distribute the meeting documents and agenda
- Distribute a copy of the previous meeting minutes for publication on College Parent Hub;
- Keep records of the P&F, including vacancies, reports, minutes, and correspondence.
- Provide a list of the P&F Committee members and contact details to the Principal following the Annual Community Meeting
- Point of contact between meetings to ensure close communication and co-operation between president (Chair), Committee Members and the College
- Document development in collaboration with College Representatives and P&F President (Chair); and
- Support the President (Chair) in the leadership of the P&F Committee and represents the Chair if they are unavailable.
These positions organise and facilitate additional sub-committee meetings to work towards achieving specified annual goals; and provide a brief report for each scheduled P&F Meeting. See below for more information.

What's involved in being a sub-committee lead?
Each Sub-Committee Lead will:
- Plan to meet regularly with sub-committee colleagues
- Be prepared to report at P&F General Meetings
- Attend all meetings (or nominate a representative to attend and report
- Work collaboratively with the P&F Executive and other Sub-Committee Leads
- As a group, the sub-committee will set long-term and short-term goals, set meeting dates in addition to the P&F General Meeting dates and make joint decisions
- Attend to business of sub-committee to obtain outcomes
- Ensure the Constitution is adhered to
- Ensure fair discussion – give all an opportunity to speak
- Ensure decisions are carried out and followed up
- Encouraging parents to get involved, calling on general P&F helpers as required.
Focus and planning for 2022:
School events
Assist at planned school events and find ways to Fundraise and Friendraise! Work collaboratively with School Leadership Team to achieve a solid planning template.
Grants
As the La Salle P&F is “unincorporated” applying for Government Grants will go through Catholic School Parents of WA (CSPWA) who are an incorporated body and can auspice grants on our behalf. All grants will be approved by the Director of Finance and the Principal.
This committee will work with the Principal to seek guidance as to the school’s funding priorities. The P&F will be provided with a ‘priority list’ to determine which projects the P&F can assist. Parent suggestions can also be added to the ‘list’. All requests from teachers and staff will come through the school leadership team and fundraising ideas will be presented as a proposal to the Principal for approval.

- Quiz Night
- Used Book Sale /Sausage Sizzle
- Cake/bake stall
- Annual Fete
- Raffles –
- Car Rally
- Recipe Book
- Walkathon – And various other ‘athons.
- Recycle activities
- Telephone Book Delivery – Tender to deliver Telephone Directories.
- Catering – Supplying morning and afternoon teas or lunches for community events such as Agricultural Shows etc – often a big fundraiser.
- Named Paving Brick Sales

Focus areas and planning for 2022 includes:
Touching Hearts
As the La Salle College students work towards “touching the hearts” of the wider community, it is the task of this committee to plan ways in which the P&F can care for and nurture the families within our school.
Guest speakers
Organise relevant and engaging speakers. Decision making and planning in this space may require a survey of Staff, Teacher, Parent and Student interests.
Inclusive community
Our Lasallian school is a united community where diversity is respected and where everyone finds a place. Individuals within the school community recognise and accept each other’s strengths and limitations. The above-mentioned Lasallian core principle is expressed through the ideal: “The Lasallian Family.”
Welcoming new families
The Committee will plan social gatherings and events to promote and put into practise the Lasallian core principle above.

Focus areas and planning for 2022:
Concern for the Poor and Social Justice
A Lasallian school calls its members to an awareness of the poor and victims of injustice and responds to their needs through programs of community service, advocacy, and justice education.
Parish
Work in collaboration with local Parishes to plan events and provide support to our wider community. This task of the Community Spirit Sub-Committee lends itself toward practising the core Lasallian principle and ideal: “Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve.”
Hospitality
Support the College community through volunteering to provide catering at events and planned social gatherings.
Extracurricular Support
Provide assistance to Teachers and support to our children through volunteering at sporting and other extracurricular events. This may include Music Nights, Musical Productions, Art Exhibitions and Sporting Events.
Grounds Care
Organise and facilitate, in collaboration with the Family Support Sub-Committee annual or bi-annual “busy bees” in an effort to bring our wider college community together and promote a sense of true Community Spirit.
