REMINDER: Parking around the College

27 February 2024

The City of Swan has contacted the College expressing concerns about unsafe and illegal parking practices around our school, particularly at afternoon pick-up time. The areas of greatest concern include:

  • Parking on footpaths
  • Parking in bus bays
  • Parking across driveways
  • Parking in the visitor section of the nearby Waters Edge Private Estate.

While this behaviour is limited to a small number of drivers, it has a big impact on the safety of our students.

City of Swan Officers will be attending La Salle College on a regular basis to conduct parking patrols, with the potential to issue Infringement Notices with associated financial penalties.

To avoid receiving an Infringement Notice, all parents and guardians are reminded to park safely and legally at all times, and if practical to do so:

  • Consider arriving 10-15 minutes later to pick up your child, which may allow for the bulk of traffic to clear the College grounds
  • Plan your trip so you arrive with time to spare in case you have to a walk a distance to the College
  • Consider the use of alternative transport options including carpooling, public transport, cycling and walking (even if only from across the oval)
  • Use designated College Pick up/Drop off areas where possible.

Thank you to those families who are always doing the right thing in relation to parking. With over 1350 students, La Salle College is a busy place, and we need to work together to keep the area around our school safe for all.
