In November, some of our Year 11 and Year 10 students participated in our annual Staff V Students Ultimate Frisbee and Cricket matches.
The Year 11s Ultimate Frisbee match is played to honour the life of one of our teachers Ben Reilly, who sadly lost his battle with MND in 2021. Ben was a true Lasallian and thrived in his role as Year 11 Leader of Wellbeing using his love of Ultimate Frisbee to encourage students to ‘have a go’ and enjoy spending time with friends and students from other schools. Ben’s memory continues to inspire our school community and instill in us all the values of faith, love, and hope.
In their last week of school, our Year 10s participated in the annual Staff v Students Gary Veen Cricket Cup. It was another close contest with students taking the win in the final over (three balls to spare). The win puts an end to the staff 5-year winning streak, just as they were starting to feel invincible! The match is played in memory of former Deputy Principal Mr Veen and each year a family member bowls the first ball of the innings.
The game was played in wonderful spirit and members of the Veen family have expressed their gratitude to La Salle for maintaining this tradition for the past 18 years.
