Vote for Let’s Have a Yarn

12 September 2023
We are proud to announce that ‘Let’s Have a Yarn’ has been nominated in the Community category of the CEWA Quality Catholic Education People’s Choice Awards. The Community Award is centred on the mission of Catholic schools to provide inclusive and welcoming communities where the diverse needs of all students are supported, where partnerships with parents are valued and where all are inspired to actively live the Gospel. This award recognises the commitment and dedication of staff, students and parents in fostering Christ-centred learning communities centred on supporting the diverse needs of students, staff and the school community. Inspired by student voice to create a safe and respectful space to share stories and teach culture, La Salle College embarked on an exciting journey to create an Aboriginal Yarning Circle. By creating a space for storytelling, sharing knowledge, and engaging in meaningful conversations, staff and students have the opportunity to grow a deeper understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal culture. This transformative project celebrates our commitment to developing cultural humility and creating a diverse and inclusive school community. Our Yarning Circle has laid the foundation for dynamic educational experiences and stronger community connections for todays and future Lasallians. Congratulations to all the schools who have been nominated. Voting for the People’s Choice Award will close on Sunday 24 September. Please vote for La Salle’s ‘Let’s Have a Yarn’ here.
