In Year 7 our beginner Japanese course introduces students to foundational elements of the language, fostering a comprehensive understanding of Japanese communication and society through listening, speaking, reading, viewing and writing skills.

On Thursday 26 March our Year 7 Japanese classes engaged in an enriching cultural incursion of Taiko drumming to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture.

Taiko Drumming is a centuries old practice used in religious ceremonies and local festivals and Simon Vanyai, Director of ‘Taiko On’ led our students through a series of stylised movements and powerful rhythms on the Taiko drums! 

The positive energy in the room was contagious with students drumming their hearts out with their newfound knowledge of Japanese drumming.
