Principal’s Message

30 March 2026

In the last Delagram, I talked a little about the importance of the connection between the College and our parents and caregivers, as partners in the education of their children. Last week, at our whole school assembly, I continued this theme of connection in my address, however, related it to the importance of connection for the student to their school.

In my address to students, I noted that connection is what turns a school into a community. It’s what makes classrooms more than just four walls and desks. The way students greet someone who looks like they’re having a rough day, when they help a classmate understand a difficult concept, when they include someone sitting alone at lunch, they are building the kind of community that makes La Salle College such an amazing place to learn and work. This sense of connection and community has become increasingly apparent to me as I’ve discovered over the past Term since commencing at the College.

A school community doesn’t happen by accident. A positive culture happens because people choose kindness, respect, and support whilst challenging negative alternatives. Years from now, when our students look back on their time at the College, they will not remember every test or assignment. But they will remember the people, the friendships and the moments when they felt seen, supported, and connected. As a College, it is vital we continually look to find ways to find connection for our students.

First College Advisory Council and Parents and Friends Meetings for 2026
The College recently held its first Advisory Council and Parents and Friends Meetings for 2026. I was genuinely impressed by the passion and commitment the members of both these groups have for the College. Their commitment to our community sets a positive tone for the year ahead. The dedication of these two groups is reflected in the time and effort they invest in supporting school initiatives, fundraising activities, and student opportunities. Their involvement plays an important role in enhancing the educational experience, strategic direction and connection between families and the College. I look forward to working with both these groups over the course of the year and thank them all for giving up their time in support of the College.

Associated and Catholic Colleges Swimming Carnival
A team of students represented the College at the annual ACC Swimming Carnival held last week. On behalf of the College, I congratulate our team on their fantastic performance. The accompanying teachers spoke highly of our students and noted their competitive spirit and support for each other. Everyone at the College is very proud of their efforts.

Easter
I would like to wish everyone a happy and Holy Easter. This special time on the liturgical calendar provides an opportunity to take time from our hectic schedules and reflect on the sacrifice Christ made for all of us on Good Friday, and our spiritual salvation through his resurrection on Easter Sunday.

I trust that you have an enjoyable Easter break with family and friends and we look forward to seeing our students return on Tuesday 21 April.
