La Salle College recently came alive with energy, generosity and community spirit as students and staff united to celebrate ‘Make a Difference’ Day. This occasion provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the importance of service and charity whilst enjoying a range of engaging activities throughout the day.
We began with a whole-school Mass, grounding the occasion in faith and reinforcing the call to serve others with compassion and purpose. Students were encouraged to consider how small actions can have a significant impact on the lives of others.
Following Mass, the College grounds transformed into a vibrant hub of activity. Students hosted a variety of stalls featuring games, food and creative challenges. The atmosphere was one of enthusiasm and collaboration, with students and staff across all year levels contributing to the success of the day in a carnival atmosphere.
A highlight was the talent show, where students, and a few staff, confidently showcased their gifts in music, dance and performance. The event celebrated the creativity and courage of our College community and it was wonderful to see our students’ strong support for their peers and a few brave staff members as they took to the stage! This sense of togetherness was another example of our community living out one of its key pedagogical principles, that being connection, as staff and students enjoyed the day.
Most importantly, all funds raised will support a Lasallian school in Pakistan, strengthening the College’s relationship to the global Lasallian community and its commitment to service beyond the local context.
Year 4 Students Visit the College for the Lasallian Experience
Recently, La Salle College welcomed Year 4 students from a range of local CEWA primary schools for an engaging and immersive “Day in the Life” experience. The visit provided students with an exciting introduction to secondary school, designed to build confidence and curiosity about the transition to high school and the type of opportunities La Salle College can provide.
Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of interactive lessons across key learning areas, including Science, Physical Education, and Technologies. These hands‑on sessions allowed these young people to explore specialist classrooms, use new equipment, and experience different teaching styles in a fun filled day.
I’ve no doubt these young students had a fantastic day and really enjoyed getting to see what secondary school life is like. We look forward to seeing many of these students in a few years when they commence high school.
A big thank you to all the staff who supported our very special guests during their visit to La Salle.
