What support is available for my child in boarding?
Our College has a strong focus on wellbeing. We create an inclusive, safe and supportive learning environment and community that enables all students to flourish. An experienced Boarding House Parent oversees the residential boarding facility and is well supported by the College leadership team and support staff who work closely with each child to ensure their wellbeing, safety and educational growth.
How will you help my child settle into boarding life?
La Salle Boarding is your home for forty weeks of the year. New boarders are welcomed into the school community through a number of orientation and peer bonding activities. Our experienced and caring boarding staff are committed to helping your child feel comfortable in their new environment and make positive connections and friendships with peers as quickly as possible. Our College House systems also create opportunities for our boarding students to participate in activities and connect with students across all year groups and boarding students participate once a week in a dedicated First Nations Pastoral Care Group.
What does a typical day for boarders look like?
A typical day includes wake-up around 6:45am followed by school prep, a healthy breakfast then participation in daily classes which run from 8:30am until 3:07pm. The afternoon may involve co-curricular sporting or arts activities, clubs or free time. The evening involves a communal dinner, followed by supervised study and quiet/reading time. Lights out is 9:00pm for junior students (Years 7-9) and 9:30pm for senior students (Years 10-12).
What facilities are available to boarders?
In 2026, boarders will have access to a new high quality 40-bed boarding residential facility that will be integrated within the school grounds. The facility has a modern, open layout with multiple common rooms, study and recreation rooms.
The school has fantastic facilities and expansive outdoor spaces, including a double court sports centre, 10-lane swimming pool, sporting ovals, performing arts centre, chapel, trade and skills centre, yarning circle, iCentre and canteen.
How will you support my child’s academic growth?
Every child has access to teacher support through their classroom learning and school study clubs in the afternoon. Boarding students also participate in evening study sessions. Homework time is scheduled every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday after dinner for one hour. This is quiet time designated for study, reading, writing, or schoolwork.
What recreational and co-curricular activities can my child participate in?
Boarders can enjoy a wide range of recreational, cultural, and social activities, including:
- Sports: football, basketball, netball, etc.
- Music and arts programs for all skill levels
- Weekend outings: beach trips, shopping, movies, and live sporting events
- Participation is encouraged to promote physical health and social involvement.
How do I communicate with the College?
All boarding families first point of contact should be with the Boarding House Parent. This is also the best contact for emergencies outside of school hours (8:30 am – 3:07 pm).
